ReplyDeletePrepaid Wireless Telephone 911 Surcharge
WHITE—RICE
Concerning the inclusion of prepaid wireless telephone service among the services subject to the surcharge that funds enhanced 911 emergency services
Concerning SB10-120
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't really agree with any new additional taxes, if all other cell phone or land line usage is being taxed for 911, prepaid phones should not be exempt.
HB10-1126 Wow! This is really ambitious. Is it workable? This will require lots of discussion. Is the Chamber in a position to take a position on this? I recommend that we watch closely to see how it unfolds without being in the center of the debate.
ReplyDeleteHB10-1087 Nice try! This bill is clearly just a statement. It might actually be good for business, but I don’t think it has enough legs to spend any time on.
HB10-1094 So they are trying again. I’m sure there are lots of strong feelings on both sides, but I do not see this as a bill that the Chamber should engage on. Whether it passes or fails will not impact the business climate.
HB10-1017 Rent control is a bad idea for many reason, but especially because it distorts the market. Allowing for individual agreements based upon subsidies or other criteria is fine. SUPPORT
SB10-033 Sen. Schulteis is nothing if not tenacious on this issue. This version of the bill is totally punitive in nature. It does nothing to protect business or promote job and business growth. I certainly do not support the bill as written. I seriously doubt this bill merits the energy of engagement by the Chamber.
SB10-120 I could see passive support. I don’t know how complicated this is to enforce, and I think this is one that we can stand behind the telecoms and 911 agencies on, but let them take the lead.
